Appalachian Dew FAQ

Where is Appalachian Dew located?

My gardens are located in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and the products are 100% organic, plant-based and free of harsh chemicals like sulfates, parabens, and phthalates.  Vegan and cruelty-free; they are safe for all ages and skin-types, and they smell so good!

How Long will it take my hair to start growing?

Results vary from person to person but most people notice a difference within one to three months.  Softness and absence of dandruff will be noticeable after just a few days.

What is the extraction method for the tonic?

Fresh leaves infused in Charcoal-Filtered Water.

Are there any chemicals in the products?

No, never.  No dyes or artificial fragrances, no sulfates, parabens, silicones, or mineral oil.

How many ounces are in the bottles?

The Power Dew Hair Serum is 1.5 ounces and will last about 8 weeks if used daily.  A little bit goes a LONG way!  I recommend application of 2 to 3 times a week for deep conditioning.  Castor Oil works with Rosemary to thicken thin and balding hair.  I have 3 options for the Power Dew: Rosemary & Mint, Rosemary & Wild Rose, or Rosemary & Sweet Orange (they smell so good I dab some on my wrists for aromatherapy).

Is the Insect Repellent safe for children?

The repellent is safe for all ages and may be applied as often as you like.  NO chemicals, NO DEET!  It is also safe for dogs and I treat my dog's hot-spots with it - he loves it.

What is the research on Rosemary and hair growth?

There's scientific evidence to suggest that products containing Rosemary can be as effective as the hair growth drug minoxidil–a research study from back in 2015, which showed it increased the hair count of alopecia sufferers after six months of use.

Rosemary oil is a natural DHT blocker. That means it can stop dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from binding to receptors in your hair follicles [3]. DHT is a key hormone that contributes to male pattern baldness. By preventing DHT from binding to your follicles, you can slow hair loss and possibly promote regrowth.

Rosemary might also inhibit the action of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone shown to cause hair loss. By potentially blocking this process, rosemary oil could help to slow or prevent hair loss and thinning.

An enzyme called 5α-reductase breaks testosterone down to form DHT. Chemically blocking this enzyme will lower this byproduct in the bloodstream. However, pharmaceutical drugs made for this purpose may incur dangerous side effects. This is why there is a growing interest in finding more natural ways to inhibit the 5α enzyme.

While both rosemary oil and minoxidil are used to combat hair loss, they differ significantly. To use Rosemary oil for hair,  known for its antioxidant and anti-microbial properties, it can be applied directly or combined with carrier oils to nourish hair follicles and fight scalp inflammation. It can also help combat dry hair.

Minoxidil, typically used for hair loss conditions like male pattern baldness, is a synthesized medication that promotes hair growth by enhancing scalp blood flow and stimulating hair follicles, often requiring several months of consistent application to see results.

The primary difference between them lies in their composition: rosemary oil is a natural plant extract, whereas minoxidil is a chemically formulated topical solution, which may come with side effects.
